Company Profile
Building Partnerships Around the World
Passage, located in Tokyo, Japan, provides a full suite of user documentation and in-house documentation services, including documentation design, content composition, translation, editing, graphics creation, typesetting, and user interface localization, specializing in computer software (end-user applications, online Help, administrator tools) and hardware devices for both professional use and consumer use.
We support both international clients targeting the Japanese IT market and Japanese clients serving international markets. An alliance with selected partners in the U.S.A, Europe, Russia, China (including Taiwan), Middle East, and Southeast Asia allows Passage to provide comprehensive documentation and localization services for all languages spoken around the world, with simultaneous delivery for all languages under centralized management.
Services
Composition, Translation, Editing, and Proofing
Writing, translation, editing, and proofing of all text in hardware and software projects by experienced, qualified technical writers, translators, editors and proofreaders. Modern computer-assisted translation tools, such as SDL Trados Studio, with translation memory and glossary management tools ensure consistency of style and terminology over the entire scope of a project. Systematic maintenance of these resources also ensures that consistency is maintained in later updates and related projects. Technical quality assurance ensures that all translations are appropriate in context, as well as being linguistically accurate.
Graphics Creation and Localization
Creation of high-quality graphics and illustrations using industry-standard tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite, including the creation of high-detail vector-based illustrations for technical documentation and bitmap images for use in Help files and Web content. Localizable text is extracted for translation and then blended into the original artwork
Typesetting and Compilation
In addition to localization of software interfaces and translation, Passage provides full page layout, typesetting, and compilation options in various output formats, such as conventional page-based technical documentation and HTML web-based documentation or application software Help for all standard operating systems, including Windows and Macintosh.
Localization Engineering
Identification and resolution of software design issues arising from differences in language or culture, such as international calendar support, character set conversion, and multi-byte character encodings, in a range of applications including screen layout of user interfaces and the tailoring of content to meet user expectations.
Technology
Passage employs only non-proprietary technologies that have been widely adopted in the localization industry.
